Greetings from Lion Country, your year-round vacation and recreation destination in the heart of scenic Central Pennsylvania. From the fast-paced excitement of Penn State football to the peaceful solitude of world-class trout fishing, Lion Country delivers a full range of attractions and experiences. You'll find excellent shopping, diverse dining, delightful accommodations, and - most importantly - friendly and helpful residents, and you'll see why so many visitors consider Lion Country their home away from home.

Encompassing the beautiful Happy Valley and surrounding tree-covered slopes and ridges, Lion Country seems a world apart from the hectic pace of urban life. Yet here is a cultural and special events calendar rivaling that of many mid-sized cities. Best of all-Lion Country is easily accessible from metropolitan centers in the Northeast, making it an ideal weekend-getaway destination.

Bellefonte is the county seat of Centre County with the courthouse located downtown on the square. The town features many examples of Victorian architecture as well as a natural spring, from which the town gets its name ("la belle fonte"). However the spring, which serves as the town's water supply, has been covered to comply with DEP water purity laws.

Penn's Cave is a historic cave and a popular tourist attraction. It features a natural curiosity with its Trenton (or Beekmantown) limestone formations. The cave measures approximately 1,300 feet in length and the height of the cave roof measures up to 55 feet above the surface of the stream. You tour it by boat. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
