The County Links above will keep you specifically in Meadville, Titusville and Crawford County, in the Great Lakes Region of northwestern PA. We add new listings and links on a regular basis.

Meadville, founded in 1788, is the county seat. The song "Bittersweet Motel" by Vermont jam band, Phish, was inspired when keyboardist, Page McConnell, left a wedding in Meadville and drove down to the Pittsburgh Airport. In addition to the Meadville Downtown Historic District, the Baldwin-Reynolds House, Bentley Hall, Independent Congregational Church, Dr. J. R. Mosier Office, Roueche House, Ruter Hall, and Judge Henry Shippen House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In the late 1850s Seneca Oil Company (formerly the Pennsylvania Rock Oil Company) sent Col. Edwin L. Drake, to start drilling on a piece of leased land just south of Titusville near what is now Oil Creek State Park. Drake hired a salt well driller, William A. Smith, in the summer of 1859. They had many difficulties, but on August 27 at the site of an oil spring just south of Titusville, they finally drilled a well that could be commercially successful. The oil industry was born.

The eight lakes of Crawford County draw outdoor enthusiasts to the area for hiking, sailing, swimming, fishing, camping, biking, canoeing and an endless variety of other activities.

Almost everything about Pymatuning State Park is huge. At 21,122 acres, it is one of the largest state parks in the Commonwealth. The 17,088-acre Pymatuning Reservoir is the largest lake in the Commonwealth. In its three campgrounds, Pymatuning has the most campsites in the Pennsylvania state park system. More people visit Pymatuning than almost any other state park in Pennsylvania. But the biggest thing about Pymatuning is the fun you can have boating, fishing, swimming, camping and enjoying other recreational opportunities. In addition to the state park facilities, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission operate a fish hatchery and visitor center, and the Pennsylvania Game Commission has wildlife viewing areas and a learning center.

Crawford County can accommodate your overnight requirements with nearly 1,000 hotel, motel and unique bed and breakfast rooms, or if your taste runs to the out-of-doors, there are numerous campgrounds located throughout the county. Each year, there are, throughout the county, many outdoor fairs and festivals with wonderful foods to taste and entertainment to enjoy.
